Craig Findlay
Teacher
I am in my third decade of teaching and have worked in five different school settings, with most of my teaching in the area of high school social studies. I feel fortunate to now have the opportunity to work with the amazing staff and students of Victoria Park high School. I love to read (mostly non-fiction) and my happy place is in nature. My favourite things to do all involve the outdoors - hiking, kayaking, and biking. I also enjoy playing hockey, golf and I do a bit skiiing and snow shoeing in the winter. Although I don't play it much any more, my favourite sport is soccer.
I am proud to be an educator. The best part of being a teacher is the ongoing opportunity it gives me to build relationships with new and interesting people. The regular exposure to new perspectives and experiences provides me with endless opportunities to learn. The questions students pose—as they navigate our increasingly complex world—challenge my assumptions and force me to think critically about my own worldview. The thoughts and insights students share often inspire me and give me hope about our collective future. Somewhat ironically, the best part of being a teacher is the space it affords me to be a learner each and every day.
