Hello VPHS Students! Career Development is the lifelong process of managing learning, work, leisure, and transitions. My role as Career Practitioner is to provide you with information about career planning and bring you an awareness about post-secondary options that are available (work, apprenticeship, college and university).
By meeting with me, you can access tools and participate in activities that will help you make a more informed decision about life after high school. Sample activities we may engage in are as follows:
using career exploration tools to assess interests and strengths
developing action plans (it’s good to have options)
researching occupations and pathways to employment
choosing appropriate high school courses to reach your goals
connecting with: related community services, school based events and off-site activities
Career development practices within VPHS are guided by a student centered approach, and as such services provided reflect individual student needs.
I am available for appointments Fridays between 8:00am and 12:00pm in the VPHS Library Computer Lab.

The Career and Employment Kickstart class will support students with their current and future career and employment needs. After completing this class students will have an awareness about career, employment and post-secondary options that are available to them after they leave high school. Students will also be made aware of the free programs and events that are available to assist them when they are planning for the future. They will learn how to research occupations and the education requirements for jobs that interest them. Students will learn how to network, conduct a successful job search and be successful in the workplace. Students will leave the class with a working resume, safety skills, and a career portfolio. This class will be offered on a quarterly basis. Upon completion students will earn 3 credits. Talk to your advisor about how to join this class.
